The Haute Couture Festival in Sanremo
A great tribute to Princess Grace , an icon of elegance, is planned at the Sanremo Casino as part of the Italian eco-sustainable High Tailoring Festival from 31 August to 13 September 2024, together with the exhibitions “Artisan style is in fashion” and “Fashion and designers for an artisan style” . The prestigious tradition of “made to measure” will therefore return to the Matuziana gaming house. The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday 31 August at 6 pm in the private and golden rooms of the Casino.
The charm of Princess Grace's timeless elegance will come to life again in the photographs and dresses from the Grimaldi collection of the Principality of Monaco and displayed in the private room of the casino. HSH Prince Albert II wanted to contribute in this way to the important event. A tribute to one of the most beloved and unforgettable emblems of glamour, who often visited the Riviera and the City of Flowers and who will live again in the impalpable fabrics she wore, similar to colorful butterflies, signed by names of the caliber of Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior and Lanvin.
The Casino intends to celebrate Princess Grace, an international symbol of style, and has always valued the link with the nearby French Riviera and Monte Carlo. Prince Rainier III and his kind wife appreciated the Western Liguria, spending moments of leisure in the commercial structures and in the casino, participating in some gala dinners. Occasions immortalized by photographs capable of transmitting their good taste, as well as the authority and empathy of the royals. Precisely in memory of those times, the Festival of Haute Couture was dedicated to Princess Grace, who left an indelible memory thanks to her affability and her attention to the social aspect. The same message that emanates from the Award dedicated to eco-sustainable Italian Haute Couture , which combines the originality of the creations with the protection of the environment also through the choice of materials. The president of the Award is Prof. Stefano Zecchi. The awards ceremony will be held in the Teatro dell'Opera del Casinò on Friday 13 September at 16:30, hosted by TV journalist Beppe Convertini. Speakers will include, among others, the Hon. Fabio Pietrella, couturier Luca Litrico, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at Maison Litrico, Dr. Maria Rosaria Boccia, president of the Technical Committee of the Parliamentary Intergroup, and the president of Confartigianato Moda Moreno Vignolini.
In addition, the third edition of “Stile artigiano è di moda”, one of the most anticipated events of the year for sartorial fashion, will take place on Friday 13 September at 9:30 pm on the prestigious steps of the casino . The presenter will be Eleonora Pedron, Miss Italia 2002. An evening to enhance creativity and innovation in the world of fashion, uniting emerging and established stylists, enthusiasts of the sector and the mass media. Sixteen companies will show off their Made in Italy creations: Agiomar (Como), AMC Haute Couture (Biella), Basile Sartoriale (Sanremo), Creavi (Grosseto), Forbici e Seta (Verona), Fusi Tatiana (Biella), Hussain Harba (Turin), Atelier Jasha (Naples), Neris Style (Padua), Nervo Giorgia (Cuneo), Roberta Baiardi Couture (Genoa), Sartoria Perrera (Novara), Silvia Visca (Cuneo), Sonia Creazioni (Verona) and Tedesco Tommaso (Verona). The exits will be alternated with entertainment: the Spotlight tailoring shop in Turin will propose three classic and choral hip hop ballets , while the singers Monia and Rita Longordo will entertain those present with their musical adaptations and Luca Viale aka Joker DJ will accompany the outfits.
If the exhibition on Princess Grace will tell the lightness of her jewel-like dresses, as an expression of her unique and inimitable personality, the two events “Artisan style is in fashion” and “Fashion and designer for an artisan style” will try to invent a different relationship between stylist, client and materials in light of the 2030 Agenda. All curated by the art historian Dr. Federica Flore.
