Sanremo Flower Festival 2026
On the occasion of the parade of the famous Flower Floats themed "What JOY! ... between emotions, colors and broadcasts," scheduled for Sunday, March 29 , Sanremo has conceived and organized the Flower Festival for the second consecutive year, which in 2026 will last for an extended period: a full five days starting Wednesday, March 25. It will be a spectacular way to welcome the arrival of spring, as in the Belle Epoque, when the event was called the Festival of the Goddess Flora and served to showcase the latest in modern floriculture. During those five days, Sanremo will be the City of Flowers in name and in fact, thanks to petal installations, immersive exhibitions, and numerous collateral events along the famous Corso Fiorito .
The event in the municipality of Matuzia will see the participation of the Chamber of Commerce of the Ligurian Riviera, the trade associations Confartigianato, Confcommercio, Confesercenti, and Federfiori, and the Sanremo On business network. Furthermore, since Sanremoinfiore 2026 is dedicated to the history of Italian television, beginning with the unforgettable Mike Bongiorno, Nicolò Bongiorno, one of the late presenter's three sons, has announced a special event , in conjunction with the Ariston Theater, to celebrate his father and Pippo Baudo, who passed away last year, entitled "Mike and Pippo, the story of a friendship." Both were linked to the Italian Song Festival, which they hosted 11 and 13 times, respectively, and their relationship was one of mutual respect. Speaking of the Ariston , the prestigious theatre will contribute to the festive atmosphere with two comedy shows by two characters much loved by the public: Claudio Bisio in “La mia vita raccontata male” on 24 March and Giorgio Panariello in “E se domani…” on 28 March .
Sanremo will be transformed into a flower garden thanks in part to its hybridizers , many forces that will unite to benefit the city through the marriage of floriculture and tourism: Baratta, Biancheri, Brea, and Nobbio . The historic fountains will be adorned with flowers and a guided tour will be organized , in addition to a photography exhibition in the historic center, La Pigna . Piazza Colombo will be the centerpiece of the event and will host the installation of 18 municipalities in the area , where floriculture is firmly rooted. Piazza Borea d'Olmo will host a tropical installation, a rose garden will bloom on Via Escoffier , while Pian di Nave will illustrate the extraordinary biodiversity of the planet's arid and semi-arid zones . There will also be a free concert by the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra , one of the most important cultural institutions in Sanremo.
If much of the province of Imperia is known as the Riviera dei Fiori, we have to thank Sanremo agronomist Mario Calvino and his wife, botanist Eva Mameli, parents of writer Italo and geologist Floriano , who settled in the city in 1925 to direct the Experimental Station for Floriculture (now CREA Horticulture and Floriculture). In their memory, a documentary film will be screened and events will be held at the Monumental Cemetery of La Foce , where they rest in the family tomb.
Other highlights of the Flower Festival will be the large exhibition at the Forte di Santa Tecla entitled "From the Egyptians to Sanremo – Flowers and Perfumes Through History" and the approximately 60 square meter flower display in Piazza Nota, which will be brought to life with the involvement of master flower growers from Spello . In addition, a floral art workshop will be held in Santa Tecla, and the Palazzo Nota Civic Museum will host the Casa del Fiore (House of Flowers) . Another workshop will focus on parmureli , woven palm leaves, which have brought a message of peace to the Vatican on Palm Sunday for over four centuries. Our palms will also be the focus of a conference. Finally, an international event for industry professionals and others will be made possible thanks to the partnership with Ancef, for which the Union Fleurs assembly will be held on March 27 at 2:30 pm at the Casino with the participation of the world's leading flower traders.
Concurrent with the Flower Festival, the 120th edition of the Coppa Milano Sanremo, Italy's oldest car race, will take place from March 26 to 29. Prestigious classic cars will compete along the original 310km route, linking Lombardy, Piedmont, and the picturesque roads of the Ligurian hinterland and coast. The competition will be a qualifying round for the Italian Grandi Eventi Championship . On Saturday the 28th, the race will conclude in Sanremo, where the awards ceremony will take place during a gala dinner in the casino's Roof Garden. On Sunday the 29th, the crews will be able to enjoy the City of Flowers or participate in an exclusive off-race "Tribute" at the historic Ospedaletti circuit.
