Milan-Sanremo 2025

The date of the Milan-Sanremo , the famous road cycling race, also known as the Classicissima di Primavera , has been set for Saturday 22 March 2025. The 116th edition will feature the novelty of starting from Pavia, to commemorate the battle of 24 February 1525, when Emperor Charles V of Habsburg annihilated the French, marking a turning point in European history. As for the City of Flowers, the finish line in Via Roma will be back. This is the most beloved arrival, characteristic of the years from 1949 to 1985 and from 1994 to 2007, restored in 2015. The challenge, therefore, will become more heated and the outcome will only be decided with the final sprint of 2 km from the descent of the Poggio.
Top-level Italian and foreign athletes will be competing on a 289 km route , one of the longest for a one-day competition. The Classicissima di Primavera was founded in 1907, is listed in the “historic races” class and is one of the most anticipated and followed by the public, who are expected to flock to the City of Flowers to watch it live. Staying in one of the hotels in Sanremo for the Milan-Sanremo 2025 , perhaps for the entire weekend of the sporting event, will also allow you to enjoy one of the longest cycle paths in Europe.
The race, organized by Gazzetta dello Sport and Rcs Sport, promises to be spectacular and will be the eighth round of the UCI World Tour 2025 category 1.UWT. For the rest, the route will be almost the same as last year, ideal for sprinters, with the most significant passages at: Passo del Turchino, Capo Mele, Capo Cervo, Capo Berta, Cipressa and Poggio di Sanremo . To get a precise idea of the difficulty of these last two, Cipressa is 5.650 km long, with a difference in altitude of 234 m with an average gradient of 4.1% and a maximum peak of 9%; Poggio is 3.700 km long, has 136 m of difference in altitude and records an average gradient of 3.7% and a maximum of 8%.
A curiosity: the return of the Sanremo Women by Crédit Agricole, that is, the return of the women's race after a 20-year absence . On Saturday 22 March, the same day as the men's competition, the streets of Liguria – in the year in which it is the European Region of Sport – will welcome the best athletes in the world for an event immediately included in the UCI Women's WorldTour calendar.
