Tenco Award
From 17 to 19 October 2024, the Ariston Theater in Sanremo will be the prestigious setting for the 47th edition of the Songwriter Review, known as the Tenco Prize. This is a very popular event among lovers of quality music, as usual organized by the Club Tenco , established in 1972. The event will be presented by the historic host Antonio Silva and there is anticipation to find out what the collateral moments will be , usually hosted at the Club headquarters inside the former railway station and in the historic center of La Pigna.
Below are the winning works of the Targhe Tenco, the recognition since 1984 for the best Italian albums published in the last year . The jury is the largest in our country made up of journalists and music critics and the intent is the constant valorisation and promotion of high profile songwriting. "It's useless to talk about love" by Paolo Benvegnù as best album ever, "Assamanù" by Setak as best album in dialect, "Curami l'anima" by Elisa Ridolfi as best first work, "Hasta siempre Mercedes" by Simona Molinari as best performer, "La mia terra" by Diodato as best single song and "Sarò Franco – Unpublished songs by Califano" as best project album. Reading the winners, one notices the breaking down of barriers between musical genres and the Club's desire to embrace a wider audience than the niche one. Remember that the two most important Italian events, the Sanremo Festival and the Tenco Prize, are both the result of the ideas of Amilcare Rambaldi from Sanremo.
The names of the Tenco Awards have not yet been disclosed, assigned since 1974 at the unquestionable judgment of the Club to artists who have made a significant contribution to world songwriting. There are two categories taken into consideration: songwriters and cultural operators. The Festival, therefore, will be made up of good music and profound culture and will continue with the traditional post-Tenco appointment at the Palafiori, an exclusive convivial moment reserved for singers, professionals and journalists, where we improvise, sing and dance.
